If you’re dreaming of the perfect beach vacation, Oahu, Hawaii should be at the top of your list! Whether you’re newly engaged or looking for a honeymoon destination, Oahu offers the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty.
Step 1: Research and Prepare for Your Hawaiian Vacation
Before you pack your bags, do some research on Instagram and Pinterest to find the best spots. These platforms offer real-time insights, from hidden food gems to Instagram-worthy locations. Trust me, Hawaii can be expensive, so planning ahead is key!
Booking Your Trip
Flights and accommodations can be a big part of your budget. While beachfront properties are beautiful, they can quickly eat into your savings. Consider staying a few blocks from the beach for better value without sacrificing location. We stayed in the cutest boutique Airbnb that was perfect for a couples vacation. It was small, quaint, and decorated with personalized touches. The property had a pool with a bar and friendly staff, and was just 1½ blocks from the pristine sands of Waikiki Beach. The studio was newly renovated with a fully equipped kitchenette and stunning views of both the mountains and the city. The Hawaiian-themed decor really made this vacation retreat unforgettable. Just steps away, we were greeted with beachfront shops, restaurants, and the iconic Waikiki Beach.

Step 2: Enjoy the Food & Buy a Drink, You’re on Vacation!
Once you arrive in Oahu, dive into the island’s delicious food scene. We loved hanging out at Dukes Waikiki for beachfront drinks and live music. Secret tip: save money by grabbing drinks at a local ABC store, then heading back to the beach to enjoy your beverages.
For breakfast, check out Hawaiian Aroma Coffee—it’s a trendy spot serving up amazing Hawaiian coffee and fresh bites.
Step 3: Book a Few Excursions
Oahu has so much to offer beyond the beaches. From a sunset sail on the MaiTai Catamaran to exploring the island in a Turo-rented jeep, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss Kualoa Ranch, where you can tour movie sets, go zip-lining, or enjoy ATV riding through lush landscapes.
Things to Avoid
While Waikiki is fun, don’t spend all your time there. Venture out to the North Shore to experience a more relaxed, authentic vibe. Also, try to avoid major traffic times and skip the expensive touristy luaus.
Whether you’re exploring Oahu for a romantic getaway or simply escaping the everyday, there’s so much to experience. From stunning beaches to unforgettable food and adventures, Oahu will surely leave you with memories that last a lifetime.
Aloha,
Marissa
